It’s a Wonderful Life

December 14, 2007

Holy crap, what an awesome movie. It was just on NBC, so with all the ads, it got stretched into three hours. Hooray for writer’s strike! Take off all the crappy sitcoms and just play Christmas specials every evening! :cute:

In a strange sense, it’s kind of pro-youth. You’ve got this young George Bailey guy always determined and always willing to do the right thing, even at his own expense. Even when just 12 years old, saved his brother from drowning which made him half deaf, he yelled at that old Potter guy defending his father, and stopped his boss from poisoning a kid by mistake even though he doesn’t point out the error before he gets the shit slapped out of him. Everyone around him is screwing up, so it’s up to him to be the solid one, the responsible one, the rock.

Kid Nation

December 12, 2007

And now, for an inspiring, reality-based edition of…

Here’s To You!

So I raise my glass and say “Here’s to you, Kid Nation!”

When I first heard about this show, I figured they were just recreating the original Boys’ Town for reality TV. Give some kids a town and say “here’s a town, run it”. No one is there to pick them up when they fall down. They have to pick themselves up. No mommy and daddy to do everything for them. It’s up to them to keep things going themselves.

V-Chip Can Go to Hell

December 11, 2007

Oh, my God! Enough of these damn V-Chip ads already about the stupid parents taking control of the TV.

What the hell is on TV that you people are so afraid kids might see or hear? Something might give them nightmares? They might hear a naughty word or two? A few too many sexual innuendoes?

Please, if your kid wanders into your bedroom at the wrong time one night, all of those things will happen a thousandfold compared to whatever is on TV!

But beside the point. It’s all over the place. Control your kids! Control what they see! Control what they hear! Control, control, control!

Perverts.

That First Part of Carmen

October 7, 2007

Is there some rule that every single movie must advertise using the prelude of Bizet’s Carmen? Oh, yes, makes the movie sound all adventurous and crazy. Fail.

Click that link and scroll way down to know which music I’m talking about. It’s also the music used in Tetris when you’ve gotten a high enough score to get that scene with the Kremlin where it’s launching stuff up to the sky.

It’s also my ring tone. Hehehe.

Celebrity News

October 2, 2007

And now, for an overhyped, scandalous edition of…

YOU SUCK!!!!

This time? It’s these people who actually follow celebrity news. People who actually care what’s going on in celebrity lives. They read every magazine about the sordid affairs, watch every gossip show, and chat about it with their vacuous friends as if Angelina Jolie looking pregnant had any relevance to the world.

The Sopranos Finale

June 11, 2007

I hereby decree…

The final episode of The Sopranos was GREAT!!!!

Some endings should tie up all loose ends, but this just totally threw that out the window. Hehehe. To have an ending so bizarre and confusing yet doing it in such a way that you’re happy with it… that takes talent! And, despite what a lot of idiots have been saying, this was done very well. I am pleased.

Of course, I realize some people don’t like the mystery of the weird ending. Wasn’t much indication of what happens later on. Those people need to shut the hell up, I guess (but this entry is already a Decree, don’t feel like mixing it with another type, hehe). But maybe I should appease them. So, for your delight and for a sense of closure, those of you pissed off at the ambiguity of the final episode of The Sopranos will be happy to know that right here I will supply you with the fates of all the beloved characters from this hallowed HBO drama. (And I’ll place the “more” thing here as a spoiler blocker, since this will be spoilers for those who haven’t seen it yet and actually care, though if at this point you haven’t heard already from like every media outlet, kudos)

Votes for Sanjaya

April 19, 2007

No, I’m not making a hypocrite out of myself after the Don’t Watch It entry. I only even remotely know what was happening on American Idol because Grandma had it on the kitchen TV and Galen has been participating in phony voting because he does everything Howard Stern tells him.

Anyway, this isn’t really about American Idol. It’s more about voting in general, and I think the issue with this Sanjaya guy is an interesting example of a situation where one wonders just what counts as a “right vote” and a “wrong vote”. Or perhaps a “real vote” or a “fake vote”. Even if it’s a voting system for a silly reality show, it’s still a voting system.

Don’t Watch It

January 1, 2007

First off, Happy New Year! This is the very first entry of 2007. Huzzah!

Anyway, back to it.

You know what I’m sick of? American Idol. I keep hearing ads that its new season is starting up soon. Oh, my, I’m wetting myself with joy. Not. Of course, I’m not alone in this sentiment. Anyone with half a brain can tell you that American Idol, as well as the plethora of similar shows tainting what could be somewhat decent network airways, is about as interesting and intellectually stimulating as a wet ball of brown paper towels. No, scratch that. The wet paper towels can be interesting sometimes.

Fine Programming on Fox

August 23, 2006

And now, an outrageous yet right-wing session of…

Here’s to You!

So I lift my glass and say, “Here’s to you, Fox shows!”

Oh, I know you’re all just about dropping your jaws and possibly your excrement at that. Oh, noes, I’m supporting teh eval Fox network! 🙄

If you pay attention, this is not about Rupert Murdoch or Fox News or conservatives or American Idol or anything like that. Although I do find it interesting that what I’m praising the network for is something not typically associated with conservatives.

A Three-Dimensional Irritant

July 6, 2006

Hi, there! Remember me? Hehehe. Yeah, I know it’s been 11 days since the last entry. My Internet was out most of that time because of all these storms we had around here a week and a half ago. Finally got it back, so you’ve got to put up with me bitching out of my ass some more. Hahaha.

But my absence from the net brings me to what I’m talking about now. Since being online wasn’t an option, I had to entertain myself in other ways. Well, one other way. My relatively neglected PlayStation 2. Since bullying, er, I mean, moderating the NYRA forums was out, this was now how I had to slightly slow my normally lightning-speed descent into insanity. Yes, I’m already insane, but I could be way, way more insane! Think about it!
