We’re talking about a real video game where the object of the game is to capture and rape girls. Think about that for a moment. I’m just speechless.

The game is sold in Japan (cue common vehement question “What the FUCK is wrong with Japan?!”) and trying to come to the United States. Of course, there’s a buttload of controversy over that.

But regardless of what happens involving whether the game is banned and where, there’s a bigger thing to wonder here, though I suppose the answer to that wonderment is the usual “humanity is just that fucked up”.

It’s not a matter of the game possibly encouraging people to rape someone, and I wouldn’t advise going that route too much anyway since it has the effect of taking blame off an actual rapist who’d maybe try to say the game told him it was okay. We don’t need yet another bullshit excuse for rapist defenders, the so-called rape apologists, to use, right there alongside “she was dressed provocatively” or “she shouldn’t have been there in the first place” or “she totally gave him the wrong idea” or any other common gems designed to make sure that responsibility for rape remains purely on the victim or some other entity and never the actual perpetrator. Yes, even this day and age, even in this country, there is still a disturbingly high number of people who believe that.

True, there is the effect of making light of a serious, heinous act, one that hundreds of millions of people around the world are victims of, often chronically, and must live the rest of their lives with the nightmares, the shame, the little things here and there that trigger post-traumatic stress disorder and get in the way of their day to day lives. So while it may not encourage someone to actually rape someone, it can give the impression that it’s not a big deal. Paired with how people like to make excuses for it happening, that’s a dangerous combination.

Honestly, I think a ban is beside the point. I’m for free speech and all, but I do have the strong urge to find the creators of this game and beat the hell out of them with a golf club.

And then you must wonder. What kind of sick fuck would actually play this game? What kind of sick fuck would actually seek out this game, think it looks like fun, pay money to acquire it, and make time to play this game? What kind of sick fuck would accomplish the goal of horrifically ravaging the pixelated girl’s body and think “yay, I did it!”?

What kind of sick fucks even created this game to begin with? What kind of sick fucks sat there trying to come up with game ideas, thought of “hey, let’s make the main character a rapist whose goal it is to rape a mother and her two young daughters!”, and got an affirmative response and the go-ahead rather than getting his ass kicked for it? What kind of sick fucks did all the programming for this? What kind of sick fucks agreed to sell this game?

Of course, I’m more and more sure the answer to every one of these questions is simply “They’re /b/tards.”

Edit: And barely a few minutes after I posted this, found a similarly vomit-inducing, rape-glorifying “game”.

Edit again: Now that I think about it, if these games were to be explicitly labeled as pornography, that may be a different story. Looking at them as porn, it makes a lot more sense. Still just as horrible, but it’s good not to act like it’s “just another video game”. *shrug*

Edit again: As expected, Encyclopedia Dramatica has a page on this, saying about what I’d expect them to say!

This has been Day 6 of the 100 Days of Summer, Round 9.

Look at this game.
