\nBut the Coronavirus… did not.<\/p>\n
January through March, worldwide it spread
\nCountries locked down, thousands were dead.<\/p>\n
Can’t gather again until sometime later
\nNo Easter brunch nor Passover seder<\/p>\n
The virus looked forward to April the twelfth
\nFor on this day the biggest blow would be dealt<\/p>\n
The bees would be buzzing, the flowers in bloom
\nThe faithful would marvel at the empty tomb.<\/p>\n
Easter was coming, virus knew what they’d do
\nTo the Stay Home orders they’d say “screw you!”<\/p>\n
For how could the most faithful resist
\nTo gather, rejoice that Jesus is risen!<\/p>\n
And when they’d all go to church and pray
\nCoronavirus would grow three sizes that day!<\/p>\n
Empty streets lay under the Paschal full moon
\nCoronavirus knew it would strike real soon<\/p>\n
The day dawned Easter Sunday morn
\nCoronavirus to sicken so many more<\/p>\n
But as it turned out, the virus was wrong
\nBecause rising up, all around, came the song.<\/p>\n
Welcome Easter! Welcome Spring!
\nFrom our own homes we sing.<\/p>\n
Welcome Easter! In our heart
\nAs we stay six feet apart.<\/p>\n
Welcome Easter! While we stand
\nAt the sink, washing our hands.<\/p>\n
Welcome Easter! Quarantine
\nProtect us from COVID-19.<\/i><\/p>\n
The virus was perplexed, could not explain
\nSomehow Easter still came just the same!<\/p>\n
It came without egg hunts. Came without mass.
\nEveryone stayed safely at home on their ass.<\/p>\n
The churches were empty just like the tomb
\nBut people stayed home and met via Zoom<\/p>\n
Still bloom did the flowers, buzz did the bees
\nStill we ate Cadbury Eggs and marshmallow peeps<\/p>\n
Celebrations called but we kept our nerve
\nTo stay away so to flatten the curve.<\/p>\n
Corona devastates, this much is true
\nBut we’re more powerful than ten viruses plus two!<\/p>\n
Easter will come back again and again
\nCoronavirus will be long gone by then<\/p>\n
For now we must still stay inside
\nSocial distancing so to stay alive<\/p>\n
Welcome Easter! Welcome Spring!
