Alright, it’s not Christmas Eve yet, but let’s sing!<\/p>\n

O Holy Night, the stars are brightly shining<\/i><\/p>\n

Sounds lovely.<\/p>\n

It is the night of our dear Savior’s birth.<\/i><\/p>\n

Huh. Seem to know a lot about someone who was apparently only just born. What if he doesn’t want to be a Savior? What if he wants to be a ballroom dancer?<\/p>\n

Long lay the world in sin and error pining<\/i><\/p>\n

Poor world. \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n

Till he appeared and the soul felt its worth<\/i><\/p>\n

Soul feeling worth is needed, but does it have to rely on him? And can it still feel worth if he does go the ballroom dancing route?<\/p>\n

A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices
\nFor yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.<\/i><\/p>\n

Yay! It’s a new day! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Ouch! That’ll mess up the new day if your knees are sore.<\/p>\n

It must just be some drunks in a nearby tavern. Same diff.<\/p>\n

Still, ballroom dancing is probably a lot less excruciating than being crucified. Probably.<\/p>\n

Not sure that requires faith. Newborn babies have a way of making hearts glow in general.<\/p>\n

Led by starlight? So an astronomical body a bunch of lightyears away twinkling in some special bright way from Earth’s view is supposed to lead someone to a particular place also on Earth? Yeah, that’s where some major faith would come in handy. Good luck with that.<\/p>\n

The King of Kings lay in a lowly manger<\/i><\/p>\n

Hey, when your mom’s in labor and in the middle of nowhere, you take what you can get, whoever you are.<\/p>\n

Right, so he’s a friend, so being privy to weakness and needs is a good thing. Right?<\/p>\n

Yeah, this would be so much nicer if so many of those defending an oppressive status quo weren’t trying to do that in his name<\/a>. :irked:<\/p>\n

Let’s just sing for him to do all our dirty world-fixing work for us!<\/p>\n

Ah, that explains leaving all the work on him, what with the omnipotence and all. Plus he’d still be able to make time for ballroom dancing, what with the immortality.<\/p>\n

Yes, omnipotent immortal crucified ballroom-dancing one! We praise you for fixing what we don’t feel like fixing.<\/p>\n

Pfft. I’m starting to see why some versions of the song replace the last couple lines with just saying “Noel” over and over.<\/p>\n
