My own flight just a week ago was still fresh in my mind. My five hour flights to and from Oakland (it was a lot cheaper than flying in and out of SFO). Nervously, I asked her, “So, um, how long will your flight be?” And to that she replied “25 hours.”<\/p>\n

\nYou know, I don’t think I could ever do that. I mean, I’d love to travel to like India, China, and even Australia. Aside from the flights being really expensive, how the hell can anyone stand to be on a plane that long?! That’s why I’ve said that should I ever fly to Australia, I’ll make sure there are like five connections along the way! Hehe. Fly from Dulles to LAX. There to Honolulu. Then to Tokyo. Then to Sydney. Okay, that’s only three connections, whatever. And probably not available.<\/p>\n
But let’s pretend I had no choice. I was to be on a nonstop flight for 25 hours. Here’s how I think it would go.<\/p>\n
Takeoff:<\/u> “Oh, boy! I can’t wait to see the land down under!”<\/p>\n
10 Minutes in the Air, Seatbelt Sign off:<\/u> “Ah, so much fun being in the sky.”<\/p>\n
3 Hours in the Air:<\/u> “This is a good movie.”<\/p>\n
6 Hours in the Air:<\/u> “Bah. This movie isn’t so good.”<\/p>\n
8 Hours in the Air:<\/u> *looking out window* “Water… water… water… so much Pacific water…. water… endless ocean… water…”<\/p>\n
10 Hours in the Air:<\/u> *squirms in seat, trying in vain to get comfortable, muscles aching badly*<\/p>\n
12 Hours in the Air<\/u>: *bangs head repeatedly on window*<\/p>\n
15 Hours in the Air<\/u>: *runs up and down aisle, spouting gibberish*<\/p>\n
17 Hours in the Air<\/u>: *eats Hemispheres magazine*<\/p>\n
18 Hours in the Air<\/u>: *expels undigested magazine remnants from both ends of GI tract*<\/p>\n
19 Hours in the Air<\/u>: *runs up and down aisle* “I want off! I want off! I want off! I want off! I want off!”<\/p>\n
20 Hours in the Air<\/u>: *throws airline peanuts at other passengers*<\/p>\n
22 Hours in the Air<\/u>: *more banging head on window*<\/p>\n
23 Hours in the Air<\/u>: *sees gremlin on wing and goes berserk*<\/p>\n
24 Hours in the Air<\/u>: *unhinges tray and smacks self on head with it, and maybe other people too*<\/p>\n
Landing:<\/u> *runs out of airplane and kisses ground, and then cries upon realization that there will be a return flight*<\/p>\n
